Story

Yay! Made it! Melbourne turned on a perfect day for a marathon -- cool, still, sunny. And I actually enjoyed myself out there on the road -- most of the time (4 hours and 18 minutes)! The last 5km was a tough stretch. Thanks so much for the messages of support and concern. I'm thinking about another run for next year. Let me know if you'd like to join me!
...

Thanks for all the great support. I'm off to Melbourne this morning (Saturday 10th). All set for the Melbourne Marathon tomorrow -- starting at 7am. The course begins in the CBD, then to St Kilda and back to the MCG. Will let you know how it goes! Peace, Andrew.

NEW POST: "All who supported our two South Sydney Herald Editors who hoped to run in the Sydney Marathon will be pleased to know that Trevor Davies managed his best effort yet – over the Harbour Bridge and on a bit. Andrew Collis, on the other hand, was brought down just before the day by a very severe chest infection, which meant it would be dangerous for him to participate. Andrew had run almost 1000 kilometres in training for the event and was truly disappointed that he couldn’t take part. He hopes to try again at a future marathon. Given the huge amount of work which Andrew devoted to preparing for the run, we are assuming that all who generously donated to support Trevor and Andrew in raising funds for the Pemulwuy Project will be prepared to sustain their gifts and are grateful for that commitment."

- Dorothy McRae-McMahon (The South Sydney Herald)

"We are dusting off the joggers and pounding the pavement in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival. At the same time we are aiming to raise money for the Aboriginal Housing Company's Pemulwuy Project on the Block and would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make!"
- Trevor (Bridge Run) and Andrew (Marathon)

"The AHC has been determined. We want to see Aboriginal families return to the Block. We owe it to the children - we're in this for the long run."
- Mick Mundine (CEO, AHC)

"Pemulwuy promises so much -- for Indigenous people of Sydney, for the city itself. The Block is the heart and soul of Redfern. As the Block flourishes, so too Redfern flourishes -- and that's good news for all of us."
- Jhan Leach (South Sydney Community Aid)
