Story
I came across some wonder kids during my time as a journalist in Uganda. Every afternoon these bright faces would meet me at the local soccer oval. I would hopelessly plod about upon my ridiculous white legs while they would dance around the field pretending to be their heros- Drogba, Gallas, Eboue, Adebayor and others. They were without parents and called the streets of Kabale home but every afternoon they found the energy to forget about it for a while and play some football with a ridiculous looking 'muzungu' (white man).
To be a homeless kid on the street in Kabale is a pretty rough ride. However thanks to the locally administered, locally run charity, Victory, these kids are getting a fresh chance. They are provided with shelter, food, schooling and support ... the energy to laugh and have fun.
From Milson's Point to Homebush and back I've run the Sydney Marathon Half Marathon in 90 minutes to help the street kids of Kabale.
Please help out if you can.

Akanyijuka Children Homes (Global Development Group - J319)
Akanyijuka Children Homes (Global Development Group Project J319) is a Global Development Group (GDG) approved aid and development project based in Kabale, Uganda, Africa, and operating under Victory Community Care Services (VCCS) which is registered within Uganda as a Non-Government Organisation. The aim of Akanyijuka Children Homes is to provide orphans and abandoned children of Kabale, Uganda and surrounding villages with abundant life. The project is currently caring holistically for 40 children by providing shelter, food, emotional support, medical care and schooling to meet social and spiritual needs and provide the life values and principles so that they cannot only be part of, but also succeed in their community. Currently these 40 children are housed in Kabale Municipality, but land has been purchased 5 km outside of town in a region called Bubaare. This will allow for purpose built facilities to provide an environment that will enable the children to be given the best chances to grow and prosper into strong active members of the community.
ISEE Church is proud to be a partner for Project J319 Oasis Children's Home, Uganda (Akanyijuka Children Homes) with Global Development Group (ABN 57 102 400 993), an Australian DFAT approved Non Government Organisation carrying out quality humanitarian projects with approved partners and providing aid to relieve poverty and provide long term solutions. Global Development Group takes responsibility of the project according to DFAT rules providing a governance role and assisting in the areas of planning, monitoring, evaluating and auditing to ensure the projects are carried out to DFAT requirements. If projects are overfunded, funds may be directed towards other approved project activities.
